Git Command - Fetch fails with error setting certificate verify locations

Usual requirement is to prune local git branches. 

This can be done using following command


git fetch --prune


You might get the following error:

error setting certificate verify locations

Solution for this

In order to resolve this you can install new certificate using the following command:

      git config --system http.sslcainfo "C:\Program Files (x86)\git\bin\curl-ca-bundle.crt"


Alternative solution is to disable the check using this command: 

       $ git config --system http.sslverify false


After this command is run we can run the command again

      $ git fetch --all --prune


Which will be followed with print out:

Fetching origin
